Christine Stürmer

Christine B. Stürmer was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1973. After a year in South Africa, her family moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where every day was an adventure for young Christine. She came up with many a scheme to entertain and make everyone smile.

Chris always had a knack for design and creativity, often to the dismay of her parents. Her attempt to create a butterfly museum in the window of her bedroom failed, due to the untimely deaths of the butterflies. The little hand-drawn flyers that she produced, however, exist to this day in the attic of her parents' home in Germany. She also created paper puppets and an entire stage, along with tickets and flyers, all at the tender age of 6.

At age 9, Christine's family moved to Singapore, a culture vastly different from that of Kenya. It was here, due to some wonderful teachers, that she flourished in her art and creative writing classes. In her spare time Chris studied Chinese brush painting, started drawing her own cartoons, illustrated her own short stories, designed clothing for her Barbie collection and nurtured her new-found love of ballet and horse-back riding. Eventually she grew too tall to continue ballet, so she focused on competitive horse-back riding. At 15 she was inducted into the Singapore Equestrian Team that went on to compete quite successfully over the next year.

In 1990 the Stürmer family moved once again, this time to New York where they lived in Scarsdale for 7 years before moving to Germany. Christine decided to stay in the Big Apple.

After receiving her High School diploma in 1992 and finishing the German Abitur in 1993, Christine received a Bachelors Degree in Advertising from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City in 1997. That same year, it happened that Melanie Roher and Sue Ann Sprague were judging a competition held at FIT for the Annual AGC Graphic Arts Awards and Exhibition. They chose Christine's design and, eventually Christine. The rest is, as they say, history.

Chris has been with Roher/Sprague Partners ever since. She first started part-time, working out of Melanie's home, until the company moved to it's current location in Irvington, NY.

Christine has grown with the firm. As a senior designer, her unique design skills, sense of color, space, typography, and her understanding of the client's needs, make for successful design solutions.

"It's been a wonderful experience watching this company grow and being so intimately involved with all aspects of it. The relationship with Melanie and Sue Ann is more of a friendship than anything else. We all respect each other tremendously which makes this a very nurturing and fun work environment."

Chris lives in New York City. In her spare time she enjoys dancing (learning Salsa currently), cooking, interior decorating (for herself and friends), her cats, horse-back riding, photography, exploring this great city, travelling to visit family in Europe and to maintain child-hood friendships across the globe, or simply to explore different countries and their cultures.
